What grout color would you use with this backsplash tile?

My Ceasarstone London Grey counters went in today and I'm beyond thrilled! Exactly what I hoped for (and more!). My cabinets are BM White Dove and my walls are Edgecomb Gray. I'm planning to use this MSI glazed crackle subway tile in Portico Pearl. I think it goes beautifully with the Ceasarstone. I like a more subtle/monochromatic look here and have plenty of pops of color (blues/greens) coming in with window treatment and accents of wood and gold in kitchen. (Also- changing outlets/switches to white!)

My question... what color grout would you use? Any specific brand/color recommendations as I haven't even begun to look. Plan to mock up a board or two this weekend.

Thank you!!!

I would use whatever matches closest to the tile color.

My tile contractor brings me the sample boxes from 3 different grout manufacturers, so we get the most choice and don't have to settle for a color that isn't perfect.

Thank you, Chispa! That’s my instinct too. I bought these at Home Depot and am not sure how best to go about finding a good match.

yes i would be looking for grout that matched well to both>> is there a local tile store you can take yr samples too, & see what they recommend> when I was looking for us, the local store had a board full of different grout colors & we chose one that matched the closest. ( from BC/Canada)

Color Zen - that’s another good option. Like the idea of thin lines. My guess is there are more than one shade of white grout? Any issues With staining? Perhaps not with thin lines??

and I’m so glad I held out for LG! Initial quote scared me but shopping around really paid off!!!

Does that tile come in square? An alternating pattern would be so pretty with light grout.

I would get as close to the cabinet color as possible, thin grout lines not wide.

These are all really helpful suggestions! Will go to the local Tile Shop tomorrow to look at their grout and agree thin lines are way to go. Thank you!!!

Have you thought about cleaning a backsplash with those tiles? You can't just wipe it down like you can with flat tiles--your wall will be a mass of plateaus and valleys and you'll have to run the sponge in each one. It's not the end of the world, but it's a consequence.

You are also courting problems if there is an inside corner in your layout. Beveled tiles are notoriously difficult to make look right--and get a good, even seam--on an inside corner. One more reason to use grout that closely matches the tile. This forum is filled with horror stories and photos about bad inside corners like that. Your installer had better be really good at planning.

There really aren't a lot of shades of "white". Bright White is the closest and its not exactly white. There are a quite a few shades of gray.

Thanks Tatts! Are you referring to beveled tiles? These are flat - not beveled. So hopefully this avoids any concerns you raised.

Tatts - I think what you're seeing is the slight color variation at the edges of the tiles (one of the reasons I like it so much!) I went back and looked and can see why it reads as beveled but it is not. Thanks for the word of caution in case they were!

Good. Beveled tiles are fine in a straight run, but turn a corner and they can be a nightmare.

I love, love, love adding a shapes to monochromatic tones. Especially if you have a monochrome countertop that seems slightly marble texturized. View attached picture.

I love all your kitchen pieces!! I am getting ready to order portico pearl 3x6 right now for our kitchen backsplash and I have many questions for you! How did it turn out? What color grout did you end up going with? Where did you order your tiles from? Thanks SO VERY much for your help!

Oops, I just saw you ordered at Home Depot! They are sold out, so I’m planning on using another company, which is cheaper, but I do not know much about them.

    Old post

Only a slightly old post but I'm still here and more than happy to help! Never hurts to ask! :) We LOVE our backsplash and did end up using white grout (I'm afraid I do not remember the exact name!). Here's a pic. It's held up perfectly and we have absolutely no problem keeping it clean. Every once in awhile I'll have a sauce splash behind the stove but it just wipes away. We got our tile at Home Depot - I'm sorry they are sold out. It's an MSI tile - I bet you can find other places! Good luck and let me know if you have more questions.

Oh WOW!! It looks absolutely incredible!! The entire room!! Thank you so much for your kind reply and sharing your finished product. I am so excited to see this in my kitchen. I have cherry cabinets, but am getting similar quartz and same backsplash. I’ll try to come back here and post so others looking into this backsplash have more visuals. Happy Holidays to you, enjoy your beautiful home.

One last question: what is the edging you used for the side of the backsplash above the dishwasher?

I'm so happy I could help. This board was a LIFESAVER to me when I was planning. Your plans sound wonderful. I think you're referring to the Schluter strip - something inexpensive that can also be found at Home Depot. It edges/finishes out the tile nicely.

Grey or White.. although black would be an amazing contrast, if it is not a skilled tiler, the grout will be super noticeable if its done bad...

Hi There...getting ready to order MSI Highland Park Portico Pearl. My only hesitation is that there are no finish trim pieces that go with it. We have quite a few ends to finish. I think we will probably use the 3 x 6 subway tile. What would you use?

I'm making a plan to lay this portico pearl with borders now. I'll have to separate pieces from the backing, but should be a big deal. Still deciding between birch grout and pearl.
