Lighting Question

Hi Houzz Friends!

You all have been so helpful to me in the past, so I'm hoping I can call on the lighting design experts this time. As you can see, my dining/living is all in one space with the only overhead lighting being in those weird fans. There is an opportunity to place a light over the dining area, as indicated by the blue arrow - there's already wiring there. My question is: What do I do? I dislike the current fan/lights since they don't go with the decor and their lighting is abysmal at best. I sort of like the idea of two matching chandeliers, but then I won't have any lighting over the dining table. Also, I can put can lighting in the ceiling, but would that be too sparse? So many options and I have no idea where to start.

Thank you all for your suggestions!

P.S. I live in the mountains of Idaho where we get some warm summer days, but the a/c and the cool nights don't make fans a total necessity.
