For the top portion, you can use a bottom up shade cut for an arched top. For the bottom portion of that elegant window, you can use a conventional top down shade or curtains. My preference is for something minimal that won't detract from the window.

All of this really depends on your goal. Do you need privacy? Light control? Does the window face south or west?

Here are some solutions.

It is possible to have custom rods made to fit the window. Probably not inexpensive, but would work.

You might want to talk with Blind Corners and Curves which can make cellular blinds in any shape, including the two shapes (side arch and center arch) of your window.

If you hang a rod at the natual break, (is that 7 ft?) is there really anyone that is going to be standing at the window trying to look in over that? Is there a neighbor that has a big second story window that looks down into your bedroom? Are the trees/foliage I see already giving you privacy needed above the 7ft height? I would HATE to cover that lovely arch, and, for myself, would do just about anything to only hang shades, blinds, or drapery at the natural horizontal "beam"/line in the glass.

@Suero - do you know any specific vendors? I feel like everyone says they do it, but when it comes down to it they don't.

@Mrs. S - Privacy is not an issue - its more about light control while not killing the beauty of the window. Our style is very simplistic. The window faces South, so in the morning the light comes in strong and my husband is sensitive to it. We were told that a roman shade would be too heavy for this window because there is no where to mount it. Do you know anyone specific that can do arched roman shades?

Well, if privacy is not an issue, first try some window film to cut the glare and save your interior things from fading/damage. That might just do the trick. I'm rarely in the master during the brightest daylight hours, so perhaps you don't even need window coverings.

We had window film installed in the bathroom in our home that is visible from a neighbor. We are lucky to only have three windows that have a direct shot from our private shared road. Thy did a darker tint on the lower half and a lighter above. Mostly you can’t see anything unless we are standing at the vanity. And that is blurred neck up. It is a 3/4 bath and is primarily used by visitors. It has helped with intense afternoon sun. Our house was “placed” over 100 years agi and they didn’t take sun into account. The other three sides we are lucky to have tree coverage or no one in our sight line. Enjoy that beautiful bath!

I think a custom arched rod installed on the wall is about that best you can do. The curtains would puddle when open.

I live on a lake. I have zero covering on my master bedroom window. Love it. The sun wakes me up in the morning. The only thing peeking in my window has been an egret and owl. Eye coverings for you and your husband would be cheaper than multiple layers of window covering. If privacy is an issue from a building then address that, but I don’t see covering that entire window. If you do shift work, you need a room with black out curtains and no large windows to sleep in.

Again, we need a separate forum for curtains and window treatments.

Is it possible to do something on the outside? A motorized blind?

@Lauren McD That was just a Houzz photo, but that is a top down bottom up blind. Most manufacturers make them. You can raise the bottom or lower the top so you get light but still maintain privacy.
