success! you're off to a good start with boho, although maybe more cheerful than moody. my monitor is sundowning, so I don't trust myself for specific recommendations right now, but more later...

i really like the rug and if you got a great price, even better. Can you take pictures from every corner showing the opposite these are too close to fill in the blanks. I like using a desk or dresser double duty as a night table. The chairs is great for the look you want but better where the desk is. It just looks cramped and not so inviting where it is. I also think the tall dresser should be somewhere other than in front of the window. Can the rug go further under the bed? If not maybe add a bench at the end of the bed to cover some of the center design

Thanks for the reply Cheryl. I will get more pictures in the morning - I have horrible lighting at night. The furniture placement in the room is really the only way it works best for what I have in there and the small space (and it works for me). I am trying to figure out what else to do in the room as far a colors and decor to bring it away from cheerful and a bit more moody.

These spaces have more the "feel" I am wanting.

A black accent wall is not going to get ya where you want to go. Please post more pics from a few different angles for suggestions. & are you more Abigail Aherne (moody boho) or House of Hackney (churlish rich hippie)?

edit to add: Now that I've seen your new pics...umm, moody you ain't. But still no black accent wall. Your rug is very nice & will definitely support your vision.

Clearly you need a surfboard in your bedrooom. But other than that, what does "moody" mean to you? Could it be that you are actually looking to make the room "warmer" (which could be why the blue in the rug is throwing you off)? Your inspiration photos don't read moody to me, or even as terribly consistent with each other. Plus, I don't think moody and surfing go together.

Yess I think the blues/ gray in the rug are really throwing it off! Great point. Maybe "moody" is the wrong thought... I do have two surfboards that will get hung and skateboards on one wall once the rack is built. I was thinking black accent wall to bring more of the black in the rug out to get it away from the "Easter egg" look. These were some black accent wall spaces I thought might work.
Ugh- but you are right. NONE of the rooms I am looking at have blue / gray - am I doomed ?

I'm not the best at this, so hopefully my posting will at least bump you up to where smart people will see it, but have you considered trying to pull the warmer colors from the rug? The rug has some really fun orange, yellow, and pink/magenta (ish?) colors in it. Do you have more pictures of the room? What's on the other walls? What colors are the surf and skate boards?

Yes! I was thinking some orange/ yellow pillows for the bed. And maybe some more plants in terra cotta pots? The other side of the room is just a long dresser that matches the tall one and an empty wall space that the skateboards will be hung on (they are orange, yellow, blue, black - like a sunset scene) The surfboards will get hung about the closet wall (which is opposite the bed and they are black and White).

I'm not sure what you're going for, but I'll give it a shot. The rug is beautiful; I'd keep it even if you have to change your vision from moody boho whatever to make it work. The first thing I suggest is quit adding random colors. If it's not in the rug, don't put it in the room. I'd also change out that pitiful lamp on your nightstand. It looks like the runt of the litter.

FWIW, I don't think your rug looks Easter-eggy at all. It's beautiful. You chose well. I like SapphireStich's idea of black curtains. Urban Outfitters has these blackout pompom ones which might be fun and moody. :) Changing your light is a fab idea as well. Groveraxle found a good looking one. Your inspiration pics have lighter or warmer wood than your room as well as many more plants and organic elements. Looking forward to seeing additional pics of the room. I'm sure you're very close to your goal for this space.
