I've never heard of doing that. I suspect it is just another of the many gardening myths out there on the internet to confuse gardeners.

Real research, at least as of a few decades ago. But no info on dosage, whether it works on common fungal infections, or even the extent to which it might affect familiar vegetable plants. If it was clearly beneficial to tomatoes, everyone would be using it now. But hey, you don't want your plants to get headaches, do you?

Wow, that is really interesting about the willow water -- I might try that on some plants I want to rev up. I have a big ol' willow tree on my property which is always dropping branches, so easy enough LOL!

There's plenty of scientific evidence that the salicylic acid is an effective immune booster for plants but rather than use aspirin I buy pure salicylic acid - 50 grams costs just $7.50. I'd make up a 0.1% solution which is equivalent to the concentration of salicylic acid in a single 81mg aspirin tablet. Using fresh willow will work however you'll have no idea how much SA is present.

You just need good soil, garden care and watering.

@Momof5x If only that was true. Plants get stressed by many things like transplant shock, unusual weather, pathogens/pests, and SA helps with those things. It's also important to remember that not everyone is lucky enough to have good soil or even soil that is easily amended.

325 MG tablet without a coating on it. Put it in a glass of water and let it dissolve. Mix it with a spoon. Poor in garden watering jug. Poor it all over your plants. 1 aspirin was enough to do 6 plants for me. It works. Leaves get thicker and turn a darker green. Leaves will start to curl upwards almost immediately. The curl is not severe though. Usually that is a sign you are over-watering your tomato plants. I found the leave curl to go away after a day. Plant starts flowering more. Almost as if it wants to do all it can to reproduce before it dies because it thinks it is under attack. I have no leave spot. I do have the normal browning on the edges of the lower leaves and/or leaves that are not getting any sunlight from all the explosive growth up above. I just prune those off.

I saw a video where someone swore aspirin sprayed on tomatoes 3 days before harvest makes them sweeter. Unless you're spraying a determinate variety, you'd have to be spraying every 2 or 3 days all harvest season. I would love to see a side by side comparison of plants of the same variety to see what happens. I suspect it's like most of the home remedies..it probably works because you're paying extra attention to them, not so much because of the thing you're adding.

I heard a long time ago that aspirin can actually help tomatoes grow well but I didn't do it myself because I believe that plants should grow naturally. Good and rich soil, plenty of moisture and sunlight - this is all you need to make tomatoes look beautiful and delicious. Last year, a friend of mine recommended transplanting tomatoes to me and now I'm interested in this topic. It seems to me that there is everything here to make tomatoes the most juicy. If you are interested, read it and I am sure that you will find something useful for yourself

Aspirin for tomatoes? Not sure about that but it does wonders for my corn when it has an earache.
