Another Option above the night stands - rustic framed mirrors. Tall mirrors add height to the room- drawing the eye upward toward your ceiling details.

(You can mix wood tones in a space, provided that you have at least two pieces in that tone... So, two mirrors over the nightstands, plus white washed wood candle sticks)

Personally, I would try a soft color on the walls to add some life and warmth. If you like the wall color, you need to add a LOT of texture and pattern to keep the room from looking so cold. Textured bedding with a fluffy throw, large colorful artwork, a framed mirror, an armchair in the corner, a bench at the foot of the bed, etc.

great room. you say you like rustic, but your bedroom set is more traditional. do you want to work around that? I love the soft blue walls w/your wood color.

your tray ceiling is gorgeous. if you want more rustic, think about lining that with wood. This look isn't for everyone, but it's your bedroom. do what you like.

You can do the tray w/any type of wood, even left over wood flooring. or beadboard (stained or painted), or white washed fir planks, etc..

or just paint the tray a darker color than your walls. add rustic elements
