I am stumped. I grow or have grown a lot of purple and lavender roses but the leaves are what is throwing me for a loop...

I found Snow Pavement, maybe that’s it? Some one more familiar with Rugosas can confirm.

It definitely seems to be a rugosa or rugosa hybrid, and Ben's guess of Snow Pavement seems to be an extremely likely one.

Comtesse,I thought the repeat was fine in Alaska and I think it turned yellow foliage in the Fall. It was so charming. I'm hoping my new plant likes it here too. There was something about it I loved.

This is the first time I've seen a rugosa with such an unusually light lavender color, and in theory I might have been lukewarm about the idea, but I'm finding that in actuality it's very captivating. Said to be excellent in the heat, but I'm not quite able to visualize it in a so. CA garden. Sheila will have to show us hers when it begins to bloom.

I have always been tempted by the Pavement series and these photos, along with Shelia’s comments, made me curious. According to Suzanne Verrier, in her book, Rosa Rugosa; all three in the series are 3’x3’, dense healthy foliage, good disease resistance, and very hardy. She describes SP as white with a hint of lavender, semi-double bloom. Also, fragrant, repeat, and form red hips. No comment regarding winter chill.

I so hope this rose does well here. All my rugosas so far seem to be doing great. I'm not sure that they need winter chill. Maybe they don't.

I think this is definitely snow pavement. I have a few rugosas (including snow pavement) in NY. They all do very well. They're very fragrant, very hardy (zones 3-9) and disease resistant. They are also tolerant of salt water and were planted to stop sand erosion at beaches, which is why they're often called a beach rose. Plus, they also tend to make lots of hips the size of cherry tomatoes which are excellent for recipes. The only possible downside I can think of to growing these kind of roses is that they can do so well as to become invasive - they really like to sucker and form thickets. They rebloom in flushes through the growing season and generally look really beautiful.

My Snow Pavement is doing great here too.
