Did you get it as a houseplant? What did it look like when you got it? Hydrangeas aren’t meant to last as houseplants.

Yes I got it as a houseplant. It was full of flowers. Some leaves were abit brown. I cut off the fading flowers.

If you want it to survive, it needs to be planted outside in the ground. Hydrangeas can survive as houseplants only on a very temporary basis.

I don’t know if it will survive a Canadian winter. Should I just bring it outside for the summer time?

If it will not survive in the ground (and even if it does, it would be unlikely to bloom without winter protection), then enjoy it outside for as long as you can, then toss. These are intended only as flowering and disposable gft plants, not for long term indoor growing.

Once the couple blooms left Brown no more flowers this season. At that point I would just get rid of it. You are right, Canadian winters are going to be too harsh. Houseplant hydrangeas I consider like cut flowers, enjoy for a few weeks and then get rid of them after that.

Once the blooms fade, put it in the compost pile. Treat it as you would any annual plant.

Ours do just fine with New England winters...I know it’s nothing compared to Canada, but you could give it a shot. Dig a hole, put in some holly tone and cover with dirt...a little more holly tone and water. I have had a couple of gift plants like that that took a year to really come back, it might take a while.

You could also grow it in a pot (pot it up into a larger pot) and ring it into a garage or such for the winter.
