Kitchen Accents

Please give me some advice on how I can accent this kitchen. Looking for little things that maybe I can place that will break up the beige and brown. I was thinking of maybe adding some greenery. What do you think?

I have not picked barstools but I have 4 kids so I definitely need something that can be easily wiped off. I was thinking leather. What are you thoughts on that idea?

Home Interiors...thank you so much for the ideas!!! I really appreciate your time and input. You mentioned in your post that it was your first and favorite design for the kitchen. Just curious are there others?

What is the wall area size above that bar area?

I think I love idea #2. Can you I find those lights at Wayfair? I like how they incorporate the black hardware along with brushed nickel. I will measure the wall as soon as I get home.

here is one more idea for pendant for over bar area to go with the black and silver mix light for over sink...

Home Interiors...for the 2nd option I was wondering you had a LINK for the hanging pendants. I can’t find them anywhere.

No link but screen shot with name and site...

Thanks so much! I’m thinking that I may need to buy those pendants in the small size since I’m not hanging them over a huge island.

Do you think a message board is a bad idea? My kids will be sitting there for snacks and probably breakfast before school.

You could paint on a black chalk board with chalk board paint and hang a big frame around it..that way you can do whaterever size you want...cute with the kids!

I think my husband will kill me if I talk about bringing more painters in since they just finished my house last night lol

Simonebud...so easy you just buy it at Home Depot or Lowe’s....tape off a section and roll! You can buy a big frame first.....than that way you can tape off the exact size you need to paint.

I always have some kind of art in my kitchen....a framed crewel emroidery of fruit, a painting of a beautiful bowl and vase, an actual hand-thrown bowl to hold ripening fruit. If you have an empty wall area, or a nice spot on your counter, add a piece or two of art.
My kitchen window always has some colorful patterned fabric as side panels or a valance picking up on some colorful aspect of the kitchen (tile or granite color, wall color).
There will be some wood in my kitchen: flooring, a pretty salad bowl, a stained oak butcher block counter on the island.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Are you a coffee drinker? Do you have a coffee /tea station? Nespresso machines come in all sizes and colors and this may also be one way to add color with purpose

Thank you for sharing the source for the bar stools. They’re very appealing.

    How are things going?

Home Interiors thanks for checking in. That’s so sweet of you. I love the lights you picked for me and will be ordering them soon. Im still waiting for the tile guy to come back and complete my backsplash. I hate waiting but I understand how this process can sometimes go.

I’m still trying to figure out what to do with that wall. My husband doesn’t want to paint a chalkboard wall. I think he really wants some sort of art which is he totally fine with. What do you think of getting some really pretty prints of fruit? Sounds pretty cliche I know, but I think it could work.

My next big dilemma is my family room. It’s oddly shaped it’s long and narrow and I had a sectional previously. I’m thinking of maybe a sofa and loveseat. But I’m stuck on a color. I was thinking a pretty cognac leather couch. But I need to find a way to really put the room together.

Simonebum....give me the measurements of that family room space and I will come up with a layout.....no problem......what about a large sofa and a couple comfy chairs?

I have a couple ideas for that wall art in kitchen....

I think that you don't have to put all these colors it looks messy .. you can use green plants .. and small rug on the ground

Home Interiors....the family measurements are 25’7” long by 11’5” wide. The length goes from the back sliding doors all the way up to the television.

Trying to do layout can Tv be moved to another spot? And what is along the wall to right if fireplace I see doors..I need to see that wall.

Unfortunately the tv can’t be moved. It would require too much because all of our wiring for speaks and everything is there. Here are some pictures of that wall next to the fireplace. I thought I having some artwork on that wall. Also there was track lighting in the ceiling on the long wall. We took it down during the renovation plus it was broken. I’d like to add it back because I liked the ambiance with the light that it provided. Also that area seemed low lit. There was also track lighting by the back sliding doors. Can you think of a track light that would work well? Or should I just not get any?

One more thing. I told my contractor that I want to them come back and change that fireplace mantle to white. Is that the correct thing to do?

  • PRO

Because of the more rustic rock I would stain it a dark stain rather than paint it white...but I have no idea of your style in what furniture you are putting in there..and furniture images?

I would not do track lighting but add two semi flush ceiling lights....so many pretty styles available now....this is the time to make changes..that TV should be moved...move it to long wall under the high windows and sit on a low console...cable is easy to move..

Home Intetriors. So if I can’t move the tv are there layout options that would work?

  • PRO

Yes let me do a layout..with it moved...

Have you considered adding stacked stone to one of the walls? Here's some of the kitchens we've done. Perhaps it will give you some inspiration.

Not really..with tv opposite fireplace...I will see what I can come up with...

Put an oriental (real or look-alike) in front of that whole length of cabinets and appliances. It will be comfortable while you work, and will add life to the space.

Hi Home Interiors. Just wondering if you were able to come up with anything. Or for the kitchen wall. Thanks!

I feel inadequate. Am I the only person on Earth who can't keep houseplants alive? (Outside, I'm good. Inside... I once killed a cactus by forgetting to water it. Ever. Poor thing thought it had been transplanted in the gobi dessert.)

Anywho, suggestions for the large wall. I'm a fan of real art, by a local artist. So I'd probably hit an art fair, etc. and see if something caught my fancy. Failing that, Etsy can be fun.

What is your style? You could do something clean and structured, like a gallery wall of herbal water colors:

More of a bold statement piece:

Or something that is rather neutral in tones, but still has stare-at-for-hours depth to it:

Or something more impressionist in style:

Holly: No, you’re not the only inside plant murderer. I am also far better at an outside garden. I love the wall arrangement you suggested for this kitchen.
HIWE: You are so nice to everyone who asks for help. I love your second idea for this kitchen. I’m looking forward to seeing what the OP does and what you suggest for the family room.
