First check with your municipality. They might have a height restriction on fencing.

Is the white wall your property line and the raised bed in front of it the extent of planting area you have to work with?

I was trying to achieve height by adding some trees, etc. I don’t think I can raise my wall any.

Yes, the white fence is on my property and that planter bed is all I have. I do have a large wooden planter container I can use against the empty side wall. It measures about 72” long, 2ft high x 2 ft deep. I thought maybe putting italian cypress trees in it??

Yes, you need height to achieve much privacy. The cypress will not tolerate such cramped quarters for very long. Individual 24" boxes (or larger) would work better but will still not be a good long term solution.

What about growng something like bougainvillea to drape along the top of the fence? You will get some extra height just by the layering effect of the vine.

Bougainvillea flowers near a pool is a high maintenance chore. Plus they often die back in winter. Well, and plus again, unless you have a yard maintenance person trimming bougainvillea to keep it tidy is a blood letting task. Ask me how I know. ;-)

You might consider clumping bamboo but you would have to take everything else out of that planter to put the bamboo in.

There's a bamboo farm in Tucson that sells 15 gal plants that are already desert adapted. I have been talking with them recently and was very impressed with their work. It did not work out for us but your situation may be different. We finally settled on white oleander as they will grow to 20' to 30'.

With all that hardscape on the patio, it's going to be tough to get something that will grow tall enough with such a small growing space.

Is the planter on the earth or does it have a solid bottom?

I would have thought all that mess of wires is going to conflict with trees. The Liquidambar(?) in the neighbour's garden is going to hit them soon.

Your plantings along the back wall are very nicely done. It looks like the only privacy issue is the wall next to the stepping stones. I would add planters on that side to grow something tall and vertical. It looks like you only need a foot or two higher than your block fence to cover the neighbors wood fencing and backyard. You could have a raised planter made so you can use flax. Giant bird of paradise could work also.
