Yes, I think it makes the spaces look larger. Our house is on the smaller side. I used Sherwin Williams Antique White, which is an off white with yellow undertones. The doors, trim, and cabinets are semigloss. The walls and ceiling are flat. The kitchen walls are eggshell.

The eye doesn't stop at a color change, which makes the space seem larger. Here is an article I read that points that out.

Yes. Also, it's hard enough deciding on a white wall colour; why break your head deciding on a trim one? :P The change in sheen for trim is "contrast" enough.
