Uh oh. Now I have mini-envy again!

I think I am a mini addict. I like the munchkin fire! I had Elfin Fire on my wishlist already. I think Karin Black Cat has posted a few pictures of it in the past that made me drool.

Little Treasure?

I think Babka is correct, it looks very much like a juvenile Little Treasure. LS Elfin Fire has a very upright leaf habit, thinner substance, more wavy, and has green splotches on most leaves.

It's a confusing one to me because it has three different looks. The older leaves have a lot of white with wavy edges. Newer have a lot of white with straighter edges. And then the one eye looks a lot like Little Treasure with the thicker green margin.

HL shows the little green spots in the white on Lakeside Elfin Fire, so I'll watch to see if any of those appear. Otherwise, it could be an immature Little Treasure, which I'm guessing is probably more common? .... In the meantime my DH wants to name it Joey, lol.

I just looked up Kabitan and Green Eyes. I see a bit of those in it, too. I hope it will clear up the mystery as it gets older. I made a better soil mix so I'm hoping I will have better luck with this group of minis than my first attempt at minis in pots.

The difference is in substance. Do you have substance like tetraploid, thick leaves?

Very cute minis! I also lost some this winter so I will just try to deal with the ones I have and see how this season goes. I don't find very many minis in general nurseries near me. Well, I did find one for $6----Mighty Mouse. It is doing real well. Had I known how cute it was, I would have bought another at that price!

lindalana, the leaves feel thin. Not beefy feeling at all. It's such a small plant, but it doesn't feel like it's going to have very thick leaves.

nhl, Mighty Mouse is cute! Mine did well for several years in the garden and then faded away. Might have been lack of water, but I'm not sure. Good luck with yours! ....I went into the nursery not wanting to buy any hostas. (Im still waiting on my Naylor's order), so I barely looked at the bigger ones, but they had a whole end cap of minis that stopped me in my tracks. Hostas are hard to resist.

They all look so good individually and as a combo! I do really like the mini's and have none of those. Hope these and your Naylor's order takes some of the sting out of your upheaval. Hosta therapy is good!

Nice finds! I really like the Dragontails! What nursery did you find these at? I might be tempted to squeeze in a few minis!

Linda, I found them at J&Js, but they're pretty picked over now. I got the original 4 and two weeks later was there again and got the one with no tag. I was surprised to find them.

Good luck with your minis too! I have found mini hosta in pots more challenging. I lost one of my Munchkin Fire in a pot this spring, but my other one survived. I had put it in the ground for overwintering rather than keeping it in a pot with other minis.

Thanks Sandyslopes....I have been there a few times this year and I didn't even look at the hostas because I have no more room. Guess I should have looked for the minis...oh well, there's always next year.
