If that is Fragrant Cloud then I definitely need one.

Those are just the sort of varieties I would plant! The apricot looks like Lucille Ball, it’s those centers that are very distinctive. It’s a hard to find variety these days.

The gentleman who planted the roses passed away 10 or 15 years ago and his wife didn't know their names so it's just educated guesses now but I looked up picture of orange red fragrant roses and I do feel that the one could be Fragrant Cloud. It has a great fragrance that is classic rose but with sweetness too...I keep sniffing the the ones I brought in. The apricot has a light fragrance only, nothing I can really identify. The apricot has made some huge clusters...all those are on just the one stem of it I cut.

So I think the yellow apricot one could be Honey Bouquet possibly. It seems to bloom mainly in clusters and some photos look just like it. I wish these 2 had been planted next to each other. you can see in the third photo from top that in the background on the left of the maybe Fragrant Cloud rose that the maybe Miss AAB is next to it and the 2 really clash. The maybe Honey Bouquet looks so good with the red orange.

Okay...the roses in the jar are 10 feet away from me in my house and I smell the orange/red ones...the scent is filling the room and is fantastic...I'm really thinking it must be Fragrant Cloud...Kristine go buy it now!!!!! :)

Thanks vaporvac! The irony is that it was these roses from the prior owner that got me interested in roses and now for the past year completely obsessed with roses lol! Once I had time to start taking care of the yard I started looking up how to prune them etc because I had no clue. That's when I learned about all the types of roses there are including old garden roses etc...I had no idea these still existed. I became just completely consumed by growing roses and really it started from needing to know how to take care of the ones that I inherited. I'm so glad I didn't rip them out!! :)

This is the same maybe Fragrant Cloud rose pictured above almost exactly a year ago. That's the most I had seen it bloom.

Pippa, you are putting your "inheritance" to good use by continuing and adding to your luscious garden, by creating stunning bouquets, and best of all, finding a life long interest--obsession--hobby like all of us have done, and that gives life purpose. Keep it up. Diane

How is it that we can have humans living in space right now but we can't transmit smells over the internet? I can't get over how these 2 blooms are filling the whole first floor of my house with this wonderful fragrance. I didn't notice the smell so much on the plant but wow it smells so wonderful now I'm in love with this one.

Its from 1951...I haven't really done too much major work inside yet but I do plant to update more in the future. I removed wallpaper and carpet and painted etc. When I get the exterior repainted later this summer or fall I'll post before and afters for sure. I'm painting it yellow with white trim so I thi k the roses and house will look cottagey.

Well, Pippa, I'm older than your house. So, I must be Edwardian or something, plus my current home is yellow with white trim. I love that color combo, and have noticed several forum members also have houses in this color combination. Done right, it's soft and cheery and a welcome change from all the houses painted in vague colors that are nearly alike. I, too, think a cottage garden looks good with yellow and white--you'll love it. You have been busy both with garden and home, and I admire that. Diane

pippa - I agree - while you were certainly under no obligation to care for the existing roses, I can't help but think how much the gentleman who originally planted them would appreciate your joy & interest in the roses. The wallpaper, on the other hand.... :o)
