In general, gray looks good with all wood tones. A gray that I like is It is a clean mid-tone gray. I used it in my dining room and I'm really happy with it. I also painted my ceiling a light blue. Use a matte finish on the walls for easy clean-up and flat on the ceiling. This is a nice lighter gray, part of Benjamin Moore's historic colors: is another gray I like with a green undertone. is a nice very light gray.

The good thing about gray on the walls, is that you can use a lot of color in the furnishings.

For a homeschool room, bright happy colors are advised so it doesn't feel well glum. But if your heart is set on gray, try a darker with bright white crown molding and and hang some fun decorative things on the wall. ( lime green looks great!)

What do your kids want? Why not get their input? A room they helped decorate will fill them with pride, and they will be happier to be there.
