I have no idea where you would use shutters on the main part of the house IMo painting the house would be my choice adding some wider trim on the windows too. A front door with glass and some brighter colored furniture As for the columns they could be beefed up but IMO some good landscaping or huge pots of plants could go a long way to liven up this facade.

I would beef up the columns on the home plus I don't think the roof requires as many as are shown.

The roof color can be challenging, but a sage green would be a good choice. I love all the trees.

That house color is too dark with such a deep roof—it makes everything disappear.

My first inclination is a cream or ivory colored house with the red roof. No shutters. You need a light color:

I dont know about removing posts. I would be asking an engineer before doing that. Seems like a fairly long span to me. I also dont think columns would look as good as what you have. Your house seems to be a rustic ranch type. It does appear to be very dark. Is that the photograph, or is it really that dark? Lighter bright colored furniture, and more landscaping, would be what I would do first.

Of course, the cross beam would have to be beefed up to remove posts.

Not the one who suggested it, but here are some ideas:Clary Sage, Softened Green, Cascade Green? You can get sample pots from SW and test them out on large poster boards to help you narrow down your choices.
