I have several 100 series awning windows that I am trying to clean, and I cannot easily access the exterior. It looks like if I could only detach the scissor like opening mechanism at the bottom, that the top of the sash would go down low enough so I could reach out thru the gap at the top and access the exterior that way. Has anyone done this?

Also have the same issue with a few egress casements, the hinge stays too close to the edge of the jamb for me to get my arm thru there and clean the exterior. Is there a way I can make it open more, without the risk of the whole sash coming off and falling to the ground?
