Marlorena, so often roses don't show to best advantage when young; it might be worthwhile to keeping it (or them) for another year, although I know space is at a premium in your garden.

Jeri, Gloire Lyonnaise is quite an extraordinary powderpuff. My Jesse Hildreth, on the other hand, shows pitiful blooms, thrips damage I think. It may not like our continually gloomy weather.

Ingrid, it takes time and patience. It is one of those Teas that will sit. And THEN it will grow like a slow groundcover. It's just not going to take off in a hurry.

The old Hybrid Teas are so beautiful, wonderful additions to a collection. Radiance is descended from LMF.

So MANY things trace their pedigrees back to LMF . . . Somehow, I think that "Lady" Mary Whittle would be very pleased, to know how much of an impact her rose has made.

Malorena, your post made me laugh because that's how I feel about my old hybrid tea, Nancy Lee, from the same time period. It doesn't thrill me, but it's healthy and blooms, so I hang on to it.

Wow, I've considered Gloire Lyonnaise more than once and always passed it over for something else. I might have to consider it again next time I place an order.

HMF no longer lists any U.S. Sources for 'Gloire Lyonnaise' . . . I hope that's an error.

It must be, Jeri, because I'm pretty sure I've seen it somewhere recently. High Country? Rogue Valley?

Update: It was Rogue Valley, and they're showing it as In Stock at the moment. But the day I was ordering I ended up going with another white, Ducher, instead.

I'm keeping Lady Mary F... because I got two and they're in pots so not in my way at all, and healthy enough.. also as Jeri mentioned, she has such history being in the lineage of over 17,000 roses if I understand that correctly, including many of the Austins… being a former 'stud' rose... that's why I got her really... and they were sold out of 'La France' at the time...
