ZD left my garden a while ago, but that doesn't look like her. I remember a rather shocking pink rose, and you're right, with more petals than that, and a different form. I'd appreciate input from those who currently have Zephirine in their gardens, though.

The leaves don't look right either - it retains its reddish tints through summer (although mine is on a shady north wall)

Does it have a scent unlike any other rose? Does it lack thorns? Mine can be variable in bloom size and # petals, I want to say fewer petals (??) when it's hot and it does some scant reblooming -- they certainly can be smaller and blowsier then. Color-wise and shape-wise, they look like Jen's, and can fade as they age in hot weather.

Mrs Gartin, I just went through my ZD pictures (I have 60 ZDs around the house) and could not find one that even comes close to the picture you posted. However, very early in the Spring I was checking for blooms and did see one that looked just like your picture. So give it some time.

Fruitcat, it smells lovely, just not strong at all. It is DEFINITELY thornless.

Tool belt, yeah, since it’s a baby I’m going to give it until next or two until I make my judgement. Does yours rebloom continuously? Don’t know what to expect from her.

Sorry but the ZDs are once bloomers (well they do have a few blooms now and then), then they get black-spot, followed by lose of leaves. I treat mine like the trees that bloom, flower, then lose their leaves..... In other words I don't worry about them, I do other things, like trim out all of the dead canes etc..... lol BTW they are climbers so start tying them to the post now as the canes can firm up rather quick and will break if you try to bend them. A couple of mine are over 15 feet high.
