Very difficult design. I have had a rug in the living room in different positions. None of them worked so I sold the rug. I have the sofa cornered on the 15'7" and the 8' wall now. I have also tried to use sofa straight against the 15'7" wall. Neither faces the fireplace in a position so it looks right. I have had my current furniture for long enough we are ready to replace all of it. First question should I get a sectional sofa against which two walls? Should I get a small sectional with the chaise? I will need to buy chairs also. The line to the left of the diagram shows where I am seriously considering carpet. That is a line depicting the way I want carpet to go. It is an open area completely into the dining area. I will be covering hardwood floors but in order to bring the softness of the area in, I need something on the floor. The fireplace surround and the mantle will be painted an off white in the couple of weeks. It will be neutral also. The room is very dark now. Please help with arrangement of furniture and best to space to use throughout. If questions I am here to am to answer. Please help.
