repainting master bedroom all white including ceiling with tray ceiling. I asked the painter to paint the molding inside the tray black for a little contrast but he advised against it. any ideas? basically the room will be black and white furniture.

Bonnie, post a picture of the conditions. Black is pretty harsh if you have nothing in the room that complements the black.

I couldn't even find a picture of a tray with black trim.

I am not living there yet. I plan on getting a king size black headboard and platform bed, not sure what night tables yet, maybe white or mirror. will be replacing the carpeting with laminate in light color or white.

thanks. I like the idea too.

I agree with pennydesign. Maybe just let him paint it white and then get a friend, that has a good steady hand to do the black for you, if you cant get up there and do yourself. If that friend has artistic talent, it would be perfect. I like the idea too, but, then I have a lot of black in my house.

I like the picture with the green trim painted. the tray has a very thin molding which right now is painted gold in addition to a flower stencil on the tray - its just not y taste.

yes - the entire condo will be black and white - with touches of gold and silver - so I thought it would be a good contrast. There is also another smaller tray ceiling in the entry.

I thinkI will try to get that done. As far as new floor? it is currently old carpeting that will be removed. I was thinking a white laminate plank floor. any thoughts or suggestions?

any help would be greatly appreciate. thanks!

I would keep the floors in a mid tone natural wood color. Otherwise, there won't be any warmth in the room.

If you want that, go for it! Here's a tray ceiling with black moulding. This entire house has black trim. Take a look and you can maybe get a better idea if that's the look you'd like.

What’s your opinion on flooring? Will be replacing old carpeting and don t want new carpeting.

I'm not sure we can give an opinion on flooring without a photo. At least I can't.

When I think of black and white, it brings to mind Art Deco and marble floors, (too incredibly smashing)...but that might be wrong in your space.

So the room is empty at present. I’m just trying to figure it out. Marble would be great but not in the budget. I was thinking a white laminate plank but one person thought I shouldn’t do it, that there would be no warmth in the room. She suggested a medium color wood. I just donot know at this point.
