Alabaster in which brand of paint? They all seem to have an Alabaster, and they are all different.

I totally support the idea of painting the vanity; the wood looks kind of nasty. I would probably want the vanity and wainscoting one color, and the wall a different color, but you could generate some variation just with sheen. I definitely would wait until you are in the space to choose your paint color(s), since it sounds like the countertop is staying.

I'd remove the wainscoting. It looks like it's also in the adjoining room and that's overkill. The vanity looks like it might be walnut or some other premium hardwood with a nice grain pattern. I would try refinishing it. New pulls, of course.

If the Alabaster works with your countertop, I say go for it and paint everything the same color. A sheen on the cabinets, and an eggshell on the walls. Since your walls have a texture, I think they would look quite different than what is on the cabinets. Use color for your artwork and accessories.

If you want a farmhouse look, add some trim so it doesn't look like the old pine paneling from the 60s. Search on wainscoting in the bathrooms photos and you'll see examples.

Alabaster is an off white, leaning toward a beige if memory serves me correct.

Just a word of caution I had all white bath once and the hair from the hairdryer was visible everywhere on walls, etc.

Alabaster is recommended as a ceiling white. I have it on mine.

You can always buy a pint and paint around your countertop area to see how it looks before investing in more paint.

A countertop is easy to pop out and replace.

It depends on your plans for the room. The counter and sink are still functional, but will be odd looking once painted. If it's short term and you plan on a full remodel in the next five years, go ahead and paint. Paint sterilizes and cleans. You will get by with it for the short term. Just scrub, vacuum and wipe everything down before you start.

If all you planned to do was paint and never touch it again, I would buy a new countertop, sink and faucet before painting.
