So we live in a townhome with neighbors on both sides. I’m looking at soundproofing the basement. Concrete walls separate us from the neighbors so is there any reason to sound proof those walls? The wall the faces the backyard already has insulation and I framed in front of it so is there a need for extra insulation. For the ceiling I’m going to insulate with rockwool. Should I do 1 or 2 layers of insulation. Then I’m going to use resilient channel with 5/8 drywall. Should I use another layer of drywall? Also should I do this throughout the entire basement or just the living space in the basement?
