From Debra: Stealth Bomber, first bloom ever

A different day and more sunlight:

Debra's seedling that she got rid of and I claimed; (Awesome Applique x Blazing Saddles); it spent the last month settling in so it only had one scape and one bloom, but I love the look of it! As a side note, it partially opened up the night before and during the night we had a thunderstorm. I went out the next morning, thinking it would be shredded, but it looked like this:

And Kate's NOID that we all coveted.....I had been waiting for this and was in awe when I saw it's first ever bloom! It has more color than I thought it would, even after being in 90 degree sun all day. To my eye, it is a polychrome. Especially when viewed in person. There's yellow, cream and peach tones. Kate, I LOVE it!!!

The ones I sent you are looking good in your climate! Frozen Margarita has much better color for you. The petal color on the seedling is still too tan for me, but the eye is a wow. I love Kate's NOID, and if I had room, I'd beg her for a piece of that.

I still love that seedling, mine did not come back this spring for some reason. It looked good going into the winter, could be the moles pushed it out. I really like the NOID!

You’ve got blooms now after all! It won’t be long and you won’t be able to keep up. I like Debras seedling too and it’s rain proof! Kate’s noid seems to glow, so pretty.

So glad you are getting some blooms!! Your “residents” will be popping soon! Debra’s seedling is really pretty with a distinctive eye. And I think I may have sent the wrong lily-I may need it back! Lol!! Truthfully it has not shown that much color in my garden. It is in partial shade and the color is always pale. I may move part of it to sun to see if it shows more of those colors. It looks really really pretty with all those colors showing!

Kate, I was surprised when it opened and was so colorful. I recall your photos of it as being very pale so I was expecting a cream-colored bloom. In the morning it looked diamond dusted and all the colors were such a warm medley it took my breath way. Even after baking in the hot sun all day, it still kept most of it's color, just fading slightly. It has quite a few more buds so I will take more photos as the season progresses to see if it keeps it's 'new' look. I am really in love with it.

Debra, I wish it had put out more than one bud....but I am happy I got to see it this season. It's difficult to tell what it will look like after it settles in. It was so recently planted and with no other blooms of it to compare, it's hard to say whether the background color will change in my soil. One thing I do know, I really love the form of it and the eyezone is wonderful. It's a pretty thing. I will surely keep posting it's progress over time.

Kate's Noid is really strutting her stuff in your climate. Even after 90 degrees it looks colorful in the PM. And of course, being a yellow blend, I love the color. Looks like a win win for you on all these............Maryl

I love that seedling, and Frozen Margarita is a beauty too. Kate's baby looks really good too, doesn't it? Very nice to have your blooms beginning. Can't wait to se what Falming Flamingo does for you, because I am sure it will be much happier in a cooler place.

We will have to try harder to identify the NOID. Stealth Bomber seems to be having a good year all over.
