bathroom help - design question

Hello all - we have a Victorian home built in 90’s so our master bathroom is not designed in sync with the Victorian era, but needs to be gutted anyways due to broken fixtures.

We are planning a clawfoot with 2” hex marble floor, stand-alone glass enclosed shower with white subway tile and very light grey grout, marble niche and floor. We are extending the white subway tile around the room at about 35-40” (haven’t decided yet how tall). This will create a backsplash for behind the vanity and surround the clawfoot. We are looking for interesting ideas to how to finish the top subway tile which will extend around the room. My wife doesn’t like mosaic borders. I really don’t like the white ceramic rails or pencils, bullnose, or those metal edges in this application.

Would a marble rail/pencil with very light veining work? Would it be ok to use a different grout color for this so it doesn’t look to choppy.

I really like the idea of something more seamless so you don’t see a bunch of grout lines at the top, So could we use a white wooden rail? I’ve seen thin seamless rails and I wonder if they use wood.

Any other ideas would be very much appreciated!
