drawers corner storage

while I understand that the drawers in the corner would allow you to use the back corner of that cabnet wouldn't they leave just as much wasted space in the cabnets on either side of the drawers?

unfortunately i do not think you answered my question. do the drawers still involve a wasted space in the cabnets to either side?
