I like the dresser runner idea.

I think it's a great idea, too. Years ago my mom and I shopped at a fabric store that sold unfinished sheets that were factory rejects (sometimes there were tears in the fabric, or they were cut off grain, or cut apart and sewn back together). We would buy them and make clothes.

I'd keep them in case I wanted to do a backing on a quilt that wasn't really special or a charity giveaway or pet quilts. In my case I'd keep it and use for tearing into strips and making rag rugs - (another one of my hobbies.) I don't throw away perfectly good fabric, you should see the bins I have full of remnants and scraps.

You could probably get the pillowcases and nightstand runner both. win-win

Pillowcases is a great idea. When my antique linen sheets wear out, I save the good bits as well as lace and hand embroidery and recycle them.
