Hang Roman two shades from the ceiling to cover just wider than the full width of the window. It would make sense to reposition the rug so that it’s stepped on getting out of bed.
A measured floor plan would lead to more productive suggestions.

“Repairing” is the correct word in this case. Put the bed headboard against a side wall. Have window treatments which actually cover the entire window to give your daughter privacy. The rug should be placed under the bed so that she has a soft surface to step on when she gets out of bed. Work with her to pick a color scheme that has one or more of the colors in the rug or by a new rug which has colors she wants. Add drapery panels beside the window for texture and add some art on the walls. Give her a comfortable chair with a lamp nearby for a reading corner.

I would place the head of the bed where the bookcase currently is, but move the bed closer to the window.

What other items do you need in the room (other than the bed)?

How big is the room, where are the doors and closet?

That looks like a really tiny bed I think we need a to scale floor plan and some idea of the size of that bed.

Thank you for all the responses. What you see in the picture is painting prep. All the art is down and furniture is out.

I will be adding curtains to flank the windows and eventually replace the Roman shades with wooden blinds.

I have attached a layout of the room. I’m not a designer so it’s pretty rudimentary.

I am concidering replacing the armoire and adding a dresser.

I would eliminate the amoire. Too large.

I'd place furniture like you have it in the diagram, except:

dresser where the bookcase is (no amoire)

Bookshelf where amoire is but against entrance wall.

chair floated out from bookcase

We think the bed could go in the middle of the wall it currently is on and then you can add side tables to each side. We might put the armoire flat on the wall where the entry door is (if it'll fit).

What if I got rid of the Armoire...added an Ikea hemnes dresser on one wall. The low bookshelf on the other and placed a simple parsons desk in the space next to the door?

I too think the armoire is too large for the space and she already has a closet so it is probably not needed.
