What a lot of lookers you have. You seem to have quite a few white ones with great rounded form. Nice to see them......Change of Heart Jumps out at me....I've never heard of Guapa. Is it more in the salmon pink range?.......How Lovely You Are is just that - lovely. That rounds out my top 3. Really though they are all pretty............Maryl

Guapa is a Whatley. Plant habit can be inconsistent, but it does throw some nice salmon pink blooms.

Mantis_oh, some beautiful shots . Is that a swimming pool I see in the background ? If I grab my towel can I go for a swim ? LOL ! Lucky you .

It is reported to be stinking hot here this week too and if this morning is any indication for once the weather guesserators may just be right . Stepped out the door this morning to let chickens and ducks out and got smacked in the face with a wall of heat . I should be out there taking pictures but it is just too darn hot .

I like your picture of Guapa . I grow that one here but for some reason I also got a piece of something else that I have no clue the name in the small clump sent to me . I have meant to divide it two years in a row but haven't got to it .......yet . Maybe this year.

A couple I like but have never heard of before are Change of Heart , Duel Zone , Elizabeth Peacock , Dave and Dennis Russell . I am not wild about the names of the last two though. I mean am I supposed to know who Dave or Dennis Russell is ? It s like no real thought has gone into the names. For me names like that diminish the beauty of the blooms.

Dark Bat caught my eye immediately. I’m with Maryl, How Lovely You Are is just that! I always like seeing Blazing Saddles, always looks great. I just don’t care for Bass Gibson, too many teeth for me.

Lots of impressive clumps here. I always like the hot colors against the stucco background-they really stand out. Guapa has never performed well for me although the blooms can be pretty in clump form. God Save the Queen is really pretty. Thanks for sharing so many wonderful clump shots.

It's good to see Ice Cream Emperor reblooming for you. Mine usually reblooms, but so far, no scapes. How Lovely You are looks pretty in your garden. As you may recall, it was never pink here, only cream, so I sent it north. How does Elizabeth Peacock perform you? That's one I've considered adding.

So many that I like. How has Blazing Saddles done for you as a registered EV? I am surprised Mean Green is so faded but then again maybe your extreme heat changes it.

Blazing Saddles has slowly increased here. Bud count is in the 6-10 range. The scapes, while sturdy enough, are not very stiff for such a tall scape. The substance of blooms is okay, but not crisp.

Mean Green was photographed around noon after morning sun. I have noticed that it is a bit darker here than at the estate. The light stucco background may emit more light.

Signet, you should check some past posts about the estate garden (it's a fountain and not mine). I care for plants there.

Elizabeth Peacock is fairly new, so I cannot evaluate it except to say it is beautiful this year and holds its color quite well.

Kate, Guapa is a somewhat inconsistent performer here too.

Signet, if your name is Dennis Russell, you might see things differently, just as Katherine Marin, Elizabeth Trotter, and Elizabeth Peacock would have a different perspective on their namesakes. Some, I suppose, are better known than others in the daylily world. I suspect if you are a long-time customer at a place, you have a better chance of getting a daylily named for you.

So many nice lavenders! and others too. My picks are Aquas Azul, Dark Bat, and Magic Amethyst.

Wow, what a great variety of gorgeous blooms! My favorites are all the purples :) Especially the Hansons and Dave. What do you think of Unconditional Surrender? That's one I considered getting from Emmerich when I ordered last fall. The color on yours looks a lot darker than I remember seeing on her website.

You really have a lot of beauties today, Mantis...Choosing a favorite or two won't be easy, but Blazig Saddles always stands out. That is the prettiest clump of Linda Beck I have seen in a long time. Magic Amethyst and Guapa are lovely, and change of Heart is so bright and pretty.

Mantis, yes I have read the past posts about the Estate but with no mention of it in your post this time I thought perhaps what I was seeing in the image was a swimming pool in your back yard.

As for the names , yes I am sure the names mean something to someone otherwise they just wouldn't be used They do the same thing with Roses too , however , as a commercial endeavor I believe much more widely known names be they names of songs or the like would promote a daylily much more than some obscure name of a person that may or may not be involved with daylilies. I do understand that people want to "honor" someone by naming a plant after them but that is one of the things I try to avoid when purchasing a daylily. I should mention I do have daylilies growing here that are named after people I don't know .

Sure there are lots out there eg. David Kirchhoff, Joan Derifield , Jamie Dockery etc. but do the names really mean anything to me ? I do know that David Kirchhoff is a hybridizer but other than that ........ No . I would much rather have a Sneaky Pete , or an Armed Azerbijanies, or String Cheese Incident growing in my garden . I absolutely would never want a daylily named after me either because grown in someone else's garden it would mean absolutely nothing to them either no matter how pretty. It is just a quirk of mine I guess. .

Signet, biggest bummer is when the daylily named for you turns out to be not so good. Last thing I would have room for in my yard is a swimming pool. There would be daylilies floating on rafts. I am fortunate to have pool privileges at a few places. My house and yard are modest.

Unconditional Surrender is typically a bit lighter. It can vary a bit. I would take E's web site as a guide. The photos are all 10 a.m. or later, but if the plant is still shaded at that time, one gets low-light effects.

I still wonder, is Debra the only one who gets the very small pictures in the comments section?

Mantis what I see in the comment section in the posts is an image about an inch tall and 2 inches wide . Of course clicking on it brings up a somewhat larger image

Your last image you just posted comes up about 5 inches tall by six inches wide when clicked on

Signet, then you are getting puny pictures like Debra's. Find a post from a year in which Houzz hadn't taken over things. For example, google Atlas Shrugged Houzz and enter Houzz from the 2008 post on Atlas Shrugged. See if the pictures aren't large when you enter the daylily forum from that post.

Thanks for posting the picture of Dennis Russell. We finally got it this year. The seller send about 8 fans instead of the advertised 2, but it is not going to bloom for us this year.

Signet, the approach did not work for me in another window this time either. However, I still get the large pictures in this window. The very small pictures suck. I have to post in comments as Houzz is not cooperative in the original post. This is the size I get. Upon clicking (not this screen shot), the picture fills much of the screen.

If, on another window, I type "garden web" into the URL box, I get large pictures. My computer must remember the good old days.

So many I like on this post. I have Passion's Promise. I love the bloom, but it does not multiply well or bloom very well. I keep it because I like the blooms so well. Blazing Saddles has an impressive look, I like God Save the Queen and Dark Bat!

Not the same color, but the same look, Party Pinafore is a really good bloomer and been very hardy for me.

checked that one out ......looks lovely just too short for my liking but I appreciate the suggestion Nancy. Thanks Also PP is a late while Party Pinafore is a Early mid season and part of what I liked about Passions Promise is that it was a late bloomer and not yellow !

Passion's Promise grows vigorously here. I don't know why it wouldn't grow well in Kentucky. Even has a rebloom scape. Not an ultra-fast multiplier, but not slow either. It certainly blooms reasonably well--around 10 buds. Why not try a different location?

I moved it last fall, it is doing better this year, but not great. It has added a fan, and at least bloomed this year, it has probably been a couple of years since it bloomed. Keeping my fingers crossed that it improves next year.

Actually, even though Party Pinafore is listed as early mid, more of a mid to mid late, and has so many blooms that it lasts along with my lates. Taller that the 20" it is listed for, but I would need to measure. More like 24 or 26".
