Power wash the concrete to start. Do you envision yourself dining out there or just relaxing? If you are putting in French doors, you will need to leave space for people to pass through. Maybe a dining area on one side and comfy seating on the other? I’d rebox the planting beds with something beefier and put some flowers veggies, etc there. Can you hang curtains down the end where you can see your neighbor house to give you a bit more privacy?

It looks like there are remnants of raised planters fronting the slab. I would not separate the slab from the lawn with a bed, or even more, a raised one. Instead, make small individual beds at each post, about, 2'x2', where you can plant annuals for color. If they're too much trouble pick a perennial that has some seasonal interest and doesn't look bad the rest of the year. Nothing more than about 2' height. Flowering, hanging baskets would help, too, as long as they're kept by the posts.

As for the concrete, I am not crazy about the broom finish. If it were mine, I'd rent a carborundum grinder (NOT diamond, as that is much too aggressive) and spend a few hours grinding it to a new finish that would look more like terrazzo (but not shiny like indoors.) I have it on a patio in Florida and it is smooth but not slick.

I can give you few ideas for patio which will enhance your landscaping too.

1. Cover your patio with carpet or tiles.

2. You can fix a wooden swing there

3. Also can create a fireplace at the left side of patio

4. Fix a little dining there

5. You can purchase a steel rack and arrange some pots in it.

Is it buggy where you live? Because I'd spend my dough on screening in the porch. We live on a river and had a similar porch which my parents screened in when they bought the house. I inherited it and we live out there when the weather is good. All the stuff that decorates the porch was gleaned from other parts of the house, donations, cast offs, garage sales, etc. We also installed fans on the ceiling, makes a HUGE difference in ambience. If you like to grill out, maybe leave part open, but at least screen in an area for sitting and dining al fresco.

As for further landscaping, maybe some gorgeous trees on either side of your view, to further frame it and give you a smidge of privacy. But screening in the deck will go a long way towards privacy too.
