A few new hosta...

As every year I got some parcels with wonderful new hosta and I want to show at least a few in this post. The rest will follow from time to time. Only 50 found the way into my garden this year and to make room for them I sold more than 50 divisions and whole plants in spring. I think 400 pots are the limit :-) Today I want to show a wonderful parcel from Dave. We are sharing plants from time to time and this is what I got from Wales...

Love your pictures. Guardian Angel is one of my favorites. I also have Red Stepper and Ruffed Up. The corrugated blue in your second photo is fabulous. What a great selection of new plants.

Karin, it's always so much fun trading with forum members. I think of them often when walking in my garden, even though it may have been years ago.

    Limit 400, omg. :)

I like that you gave the boys & girls names. The Queen really caught my eye. She won Best of Show at a local hosta leaf show in 2017.

Very beautiful hostas Karin and Ken.

ONLY fifty. What's your usual yearly count? Of course, you were strong enough to give 50 up, too. I'm miserable if I lose one.

Love the photo of Ivory Coast.

    pandora,

I like The Queen, it is a eyecatcher and my friend from Wales was very generous to give me such a nice piece.

I started growing hosta maybe 8 years ago and the first few years I had only five. Then I got addicted and bought 50 one year. The next year it was more than 200, the following 150. But now my garden is full and I can only buy new ones if I give away some others. Of course I also lose some to winter or other hosta problems and those I can replace :-)

Ivory Coast is a division from a mature plant and was really big when I got it. It went in my biggest pot and I love it!

Here's another picture soon after I got it in spring...

Karin, you are so lucky to have a trading partner, so exciting! Do you know what each other are receiving or is it a surprise? I love the Breeders Cup. One of the most puckered leaves I’ve seen. what’s the last hosta end of your first post? The fun twisted green and white one? It says GA, but can’t be compared to Ken’s stunning GA photos. Did I miss sumpin’? Also love “Queen.” Lucky to get.

Ken, all three GA pictures posted and each one was more beautiful than the one before it.

Your OS Regalia is also such a lovely mix of soft colors——looks like you have a new “clump” growing on the left of the main plant>>>> I could take that off your hands if you Like..... :-) Also what does the OS mean?

Karin and Ken, the seedlings are the type of plants that may be used for growing new hostas that could eventually be tissue cultivated to grow new hosta? If so, I like Idris the best. Thanks for sharing all your new hostas!!

Normally we talk about what we can trade but it is so much fun to find one or more surprises in the parcels I get :-) For example I knew I would get Breeder's Love on day, but with the same parcel came a few I was not expecting, like Continental Divide and Regalia. Dave has so many wonderful plants and seedlings and I'm already looking forward to next spring :-)

The twisted one is a small division of Guardian Angel, in a few years it will hopefully look like the wonderful plant in Ken's pictures.

OS means Originator Stock as far as I know. Those plants are not from TC but divisions from the motherplant.

Yep, I'm in love with The Queen. She reminds me of GE. I'll probably never get to have one but I'll pretend putting it on my wishlist.
