I agree. Our cabinets will be cherry and just looking to a different finish on the hood. We have the insert already and will have the hood custom made just need to decide on a finish. Would love suggestions.

Without seeing the kitchen, I think a custom made real copper hood would be great. Is the cabinet company telling you the hood has to be wood? Apparently I am missing something.

I know Modern Masters has several metallic paint finishes which are beautiful. They have a website... Worth checking it out.

Modern masters has a great line of paints and aging solutions to create what you like. you will have to order a few products and make test samples. Actually you should contact a faux painter in your area. You could also have a stone look hood be using Texston Terra or Tuscany. Again I would recommend a professional installer

Yes, there are metallic paints and effects finishes that will let you completely transform the look of a range hood.

Here's an example from one of our customers, who took our "Mimosa" model 36" wall-mount hood, embossed a custom design into the steel body of the hood, painted it with a faux metal finish, and stained the wood trim frame to match the cabinetry. The end result is a hood that looks completely custom-made, but in fact required only painting, not fabrication.

I would be happy to help with an estimate on a real copper hood. We make some of the best, right here in PA and ship all over the world.

You've been asked, "why not use a real copper hood?" Typically the answer is that a really good looking copper hood is upwards of about 6K. I step in when people want a gorgeous look, but can't spend that kind of money. I am a finisher and do a lot of copper-looking hoods, and have no trouble matching or complementing to other copper elements. But my work is also not inexpensive. I don't always use just paint, and if you go the inexpensive route for finishing with paint, please don't expect a high-end result. It's your kitchen and your budget -- a hood is a huge element of a kitchen, and you don't want it to distract from your look/quality.

A real copper range is very expensive plus installation so that is usually why someone would want to paint what they already have to look like copper. Also many people prefer not to gut a kitchen and work with what they already have to create a new look with diy projects. This is what is best for the environmental crisis too.
