Lovely seedling, Debra! Every one you show us is lovely. Smug is impressive again today. It’s great to see Final Touch blooming, not sure if mine has even started scaping. Velvet Throne looks so lush. I sure understand the shade, most of my daylilies have to deal with shade too.

Another striking Petit; the sheen is remarkable. But how many times haven't we heard about performance problems with Petit cultivars. I wonder if people use some of these cultivars mainly for breeding. The edge on Dearest Valentine seems even more pronounced on rebloom, or is it just the sun glint? I wonder what kind of bud count you eventually expect on Smug. Shelby here is taking forever to establish, and less than 6 buds per scape just is not acceptable.

You are quite right about the velvety texture on Velvet Throne-it is a sheen! I love the color on Final Touch and it is so good that Dearest Valentine is a blooming machine!!

Sherry - I'm moving some of that seedling out this year. I will always grow it, but I'm not going to register it. Would you like a piece of it, along with the other seedling you have coming in the future?

Mantis - I grow a lot of Petit cultivars, and I'm pretty happy with most of them. Most don't get as tall as registered, but most of the ones growing in full sun do fine. Shelby took about three years to get established here. But I think Shelby doesn't like the place you have her planted if you're only getting six buds.. When she used to get enough sun, I always got more than the registered bud count - usually at least 17 buds per scape. The past two years I've gotten none because she's now in too much shade to even bloom. If I ever get Smug in the ground I would expect the 15 buds registered. It gets 9-10 per scape in a pot, and I haven't had that pot in full sun the whole summer. The Mowers moved it in part shade, along with several others.

Julia - The photo above shows Dearest Valentine with a very saturated deep pink - not red. If you look at my photos on an Ipad, those always add red tones to my pictures.

Velvet Throne is a beautiful shade of red. Very rich looking.......Today my favorite is going to be Final Touch. Simple form with pretty pink blooms. Reminds me of my Yesterday Memories (still has a few blooms to go). How does it perform for you? Is it always this late?...........Maryl

Oh, Velvet Throne is a beauty! That thin white edge! Love the colors of Sp Ojo Rojo. Your FDFN looks so good, I don't think mine has any IR this year. Great pic of Final Touch. And Dearest Valentine looks wonderful such nice pink!

Maryl - Final Touch is always one of my latest to bloom. Some years it bud builds and blooms into September.

Velvet Throne and Emperor Butterfly X Great White are my favorites.

Trying to catch up on posts ......and I am failing miserably . Velvet Throne is wonderful .....quite the contrast in the images from shade to sun ......both equally lovely no matter what shade of red velvet she shows. Smug ......still wonderful and Forty Days and Forty Nights ...love the white edge to match the watermark . It isn't any wonder we fall in love with daylliies when you see pictures like these.

Velvet Throne is a beauty. I truly like Smug...Final Touch has always been a lovely late one, and look at the beautiful Dearest Valentine reblooming. Lovely.

I am a Velvet Throne fan too, what a beautiful red. Smug is gorgeous, and so is Dearest Valentine.

On a side note, one of the plants we got from the convention bloomed. The name is completely eluding me now, but I think you said yours scaped too? It is beautiful! I did not get a pic before the storms hit, we have flooding in out back yard. I am sure the flower does not look like much now, sure wish I got a photo!

Nancy 6b - The convention plant is named Grove Park Terrace. Mine should be blooming by the end of the week. Also, that broken off fan of Dearest Mahogany did root - just like you said it would. I guess there was enough crown on it to grow the roots. I'm glad you told me about that. I've thrown dozens of broken off fans away over the years.

I know people say it won't work, but I think even if you can't see a piece of the crown, if the fan holds together, thee maybe a bit of crown there to root. You will probably need to baby it for a while, but it is always the precious ones that snap off. Thanks for the reminder of the name, it was driving me crazy. Apparently not enough to get on the computer to look up my list though

I do it all the time . With my dogs this happens on a regular basis. The one thing I would recommend is dip the end in hydrogen peroxide and then let the broken end dry completely ( probably for a day , then plant , it stops any fungus or rot from happening . You can also dip in rooting hormone if you have it . Nancy is right , if the fan doesn't fall apart it is probably rescuable.
