Family Room furniture plan

We are remodeling an old rancher. As part of the project we're removing the partial wall (with a large cased opening) between the light and bright family room and the much-darker informal dining room. We eat all our meals at the large barnwood table there, which we will refinish and keep.

We are replacing the tile with hardwoods - we are doing hardwoods everywhere. The door by the fireplace leads to the garage, so we need to retain a walking path from there into the house. On the french doors to the deck, we only use the right hand one.

I have never cracked the nut on the furniture plan for this room...people don't gravitate there. It's light and bright, the furniture is old and comfy, but for some reason it's not anyone's favorite place to be.

We will be buying new couches for sure, and possibly a new top for the table. I would love to get any insights you may have into why it doesn't feel comfortable and how you would arrange it.

The room is 17' x 25'.

Excuse the mess and the boxes, I am in the midst of moving for the reno.
