Stanton wool blend carpet

I am thinking of adding this exact carpet to my own stairs. It’s a 80% wool 20% nylon blend. Has anyone installed something similar that has held up well? I have two small children so I need to have some sort of runner on the stairs for safety- and this one is quite beautiful!

Love Stanton rugs and love wool. Nice choice.

Thanks Judy! Do you think having a dog would factor negatively on an investment in a wool carpet for the stairs?

Hi CB- Just wondering if you installed this runner, and if so, if you would recommend it. I'm considering installing Stanton Saratoga carpeting in our bedrooms (80% wool / 20% polysilk), but am nervous because I can't find much in the way of reviews. We have cats and teenagers.

Eastautumn did you end you doing the Stanton Carpet? If so how is it holding up?

We haven't yet... We're still living with our 17 year old frieze carpet :( Part of it is laziness, and part of it was having 2 older cats who regularly vomited and had other accidents on the carpet up until very recently. Both of our beloved senior cats passed away in the past month, so I am thinking about replacing the carpeting again. I'll keep you posted on what we decide to go with and how it holds up. We do have one more cat, but he's only a year old and isn't a puker, thankfully.

I have a Stanton carpet on steps I really like it but it is more of a beige / dark cream. I would be worried about something so light

Haven’t had Stanton carpet (that I know of because I don’t know the brand I had) but have had a 100% wool carpet.

Therefore, I can tell you (and I am not exaggerating) that it looked brand new at 30 years old with good care (which included vacuuming 2x weekly). Hope this helps someone. There is no comparison between the durability of wool vs other inferior carpet materials. Spendy, but worth it if you can plan for the expense.

After all of my attempted research on wool carpeting, we ultimately ended up replacing all of our carpet (throughout the upstairs hallway and bedrooms) with hardwood. I love our wool area rugs, but there just aren't many options for 100% wool wall-to-wall carpet in our area and the blends seemed like too much of a risk.

I will echo Florida’s comment. I have two friends with 100% wool carpeting in dining room and on stairs. With only ordinary care , both are about thirty years old and look perfect. Fully worth the expense for a forever home.
