Thank you! I read a ton of your posts on here before I got it orginally (two years ago as a little baby) so I have to criedt some of his health to you! I do have humidifier just for this plant, would that help or would you still recommend moving it?

Example: If you have a hygrometer in the center of the room that reads 50% with the radiator putting out heat and a humidifier operating, moving the hygrometer to where your tree is positioned now can change the reading by 20-30% ...... and misting won't help. I'm guessing though, that all the windows probably have radiators in front of them?

What might work is an ultrasonic humidifier near the plant. I won't make it a suggestion unless you can get water from a friend that has a reverse osmosis water filtration system that for all intents/purposed produces an equal to distilled water (water with 0 ppm dissolved solids). I have a compact system that fits on a 2 ft by 2 ft board and makes up to 75 gallons per day. I use it for all plants indoors over winter (all plants are outdoors in summer), and for all our drinking water. It eliminates all the chlorine, fluoride, carbonates, ........ I wouldn't be w/o it. Anyway, I have 2 ultrasonic humidifiers in the grow area and 2 in the living space of our home. I ass a little hydrogen peroxide whenever I fill the reservoir, and I never have to clean them except when I prepare then for storage during the warm months. Other than that, or finding a better winter spot for them, I'm out of ideas worth considering.

This is a bit off topic, but, Al, have you given any thought to remineralizing the RO water destined for your fam's consumption? I realize it sounds a bit counteractive to add minerals after you've gone through the trouble of removing them; and yet, drinking water that's been completely stripped off of all minerals can also be detrimental to one's health, in the long term. The electrolytes in water provide the body not only with those much needed minerals (in trace amounts), but also (believe it or not) play a very important role in keeping you well hydrated.

Homedics ultrasonic humidifier.Currently, they can be had via eBay for about $80 and free shipping. US humidifiers are a PITB if you have to use tap water, but the distilled/deionized water + a tablespoon of H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) every time they need filling makes them easy-peasy to use. We have a very large family room and keep it set to 45% in the winter. I can get a little more than 24 hrs on high output from the 1.5 gallon reservoir. Our home is pretty air tight, so YMMV in an older home not quite so tight.

Thanks GV. I appreciate you calling the potential dearth of dissolved solids/minerals in r/o water to my attention. I actually have considered any health implications and discussed them both with my regular physician and a dear friend who is also a physician. Both are familiar with our dietary intake and have indicated there is nothing to be concerned with at this time.
