You could put in closed cupboards above to hide things. Or use floating shelves across the expanse, with baskets you can keep things in and slide out as needed. Lots of options if you use all that vertical space above the countertop.

I agree with the closed storage. I like using the same type/color baskets baskets for an easy fix. You can even label the baskets with styled labels from a hobby store!

Agree to use wall space for cabinets or shelves. If custom is in the budget, maybe something with drop down fronts for charging or paper/mail storage would be sleek.

What all IS there? The only thing I recognize is a flag. You already have the charging station so that’s good. Find a small dish for change, you must have one somewhere. We use a basket system for mail: DH takes the bills and his mail to the study, my/other household mail goes in one vertical basket at the entry, coupons and flyers in another. But what else do you want to store? And will it be stored for an hour? A couple of days? A permanent storage location? All of those answers will dictate what kind of storage you need there. My DH loves to use binders for storing paperwork, and I am now a convert, too. It’s always handy to have One place where you can always find a pen, sharpie, scissors, post-its, note pads. Is this that place, or do you have another area for that? And what about the flag?

I would put a shelf across with a great MCM painting (or starburst clock) above and a series of attractive sorting baskets below.
