Kitchen Renovation Complete!

We just finished transforming our 90s builder grade kitchen — we didn’t change the footprint/make structural changes, but we changed everything. Cabinetry, countertop, lighting, flooring, paint, appliances, hardware. Went with transitional glam. Closed up the closet pantry and made that into a built in. We relied so much on design inspiration from Houzz (did this without a designer), so very grateful for this site and the folks here!

Pendant lights may be my favorite part of the kitchen. Match the brass Emtek hardware perfectly. I feel like it’s the kitchen’s jewelry! I believe these are from Circa lighting.

Very good! So fresh, new, light! You’ll enjoy for many years to come. Thanks for sharing.

    Wow! Beautiful!

We went with quartz countertops that look like marble. Went with LG Viatera and are thrilled. Home Depot was running a sale and we got this thousands of dollars cheaper by going through HD. The installers were wonderful and absolutely zero issue.

Really like your island size and very nice seating with good features for actual use. Semi elegant along w functional!! It's interesting how big box store format is often frowned on yet if you are specific and discriminating you can get a great result like you did. One must be careful : your counters look great.

Very nice! Enjoy it in the best of health!! The island is perfect for your space. So many good choices. Clean, fresh and well designed. Pitfalls abound, and you seem to have avoided them. Congratulations on your success.

It is all fantastic; doesn’t even look like the same house!! To add the icing to the cake, I would make the outlet covers on the backsplash disappear by painting them in the same color as the backsplash. The backsplash is so pretty but is broken up by the white squares.

Thank you guys! I really appreciate it.

Mike, I believe the stools are from Joss and Main! (If not then definitely one of the Wayfair sites).

This is so beautiful! My husband and I are in this phase right now and have those same cabinets. Thank you for sharing, we will certainly look through your modifications.

I dream of a white kitchen. I am scared that the paint will not hold up but cannot help myself.

How do you like the Rangetop?

I have a drop electric cooktop and I have found a great deal on a Wolf Rangetop but I was not sure if that extra money was worth it or a new Wolf Cooktop.

May I ask what the color you painted the island?

    It is perfect!

Very nice! That’s quite a transfusion. I love it all but especially the blue cabinet color. Enjoy your new kitchen!

Hi Scottie! So exciting! It was a fun project, I am sure it will be for you, too.

So far, white cabinets have been holding up. I love the white contrast with the island and walls, it makes those accents pop more.

The island is Benjamin Moore Deep Silver 2124-30 (and the walls are Benjamin Moore Thundercloud Gray 2124-40).

My husband loves the rangetop. I think for him it was more aesthetics more than anything else, but I assume with Wolf, you can’t go wrong with either! We have a GE and we are happy so far with it.

I look forward to seeing progress pics, if you post them! Good luck with it!

Our old floor is our problematic because it is open like your home and the living and dining space has carpet. I am forever more steam cleaning. So, we have to figure out the flooring.

It looks like you replaced your flooring as well. I love hardwoods. We will have to do the work ourselves.

As to the rangetop, it was a floor model at the appliance store. I think they want about 2500 for it. Not sure I can afford to purchase that one when I need lighting in my kitchen, etc.

Love your kitchen and so does my hubby! When he saw the before picture, he said, " that looks familiar." Enjoy your well deserved and beautiful kitchen!

It’s gorgeous! Wonderful job. The island is especially fab.

Beautiful! do you have a before picture of the fridge wall?

    What a lovely kitchen!

    Thanks again everyone!!

Krottmann - oddly enough, I can’t find great pics of the ‘before’ of that wall ... but I think you can see it in this one even if not the best view. If facing wall, double (stacked) ovens were on the right, fridge to left of it, then a walk in pantry that was just a lot of wasted space.

Wow, Meredith. This is just an amazing transformation. Love your color choices, backsplash, island and redo of the pantry. You must love it! So well done.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>Aw thank you so much! ♥️ We definitely agonized over every choice, particularly since we were doing it on our own (backsplash and pendants I think were the most stressful!) — so I’m so pleased that I love it and that others really like it too

Thank you! @jozicad15, I don't know why my post didn't come through. We have red oak floors that were stained the "gym floor" color popular in the 90s. We decided to go dark, but opted for a dark gray that is part of the grays offered in the new Duraseal line. This one is called "dark gray". It works really well with the gray walls and island, as well as dark/navy blues that we have on our stair runner etc. If I can figure out how to post a pic of the sample next to a few others we tried, I will do that! We asked the floor guy if there was a chance that using gray would turn the red oak pink as I had read that, but it didn't at all. They came out great.
