Deer tongue lettuce, perhaps. What was the leaf shape?

Romaine? The romaine I grow looks different than the bagged stuff at the store. It's in most mixes.

Hi. No - not deer tongue. I know that variety. Not romaine, either. This is a standard issue frilly leaf lettuce, except that it's deep green & thick-leaved. Thanx for your replies. In a while I may have photos.

Crisp Mint Lettuce

From their website, this is more like a romaine but seems to have thick dark green frilly leaves...?

By golly, that might be it. That it is a Romaine isn't noticeable when you pluck them while they are still small. Thank you, and thanks to Nature Girl &I Tsugajunkie as well. Now I know what to order next year.
