Its described as a tasting area with mini kitchenette - probably just use for guests as there is a family room, bedroom, full bath, exercise room and nook(potential play room) to finish out the basement as well as unfinished area.

I wouldn’t try to assign it a living space use unless there is a dire need for the space. For a playroom, gym, office, etc, natural light is always preferable to a windowless wine cellar IMHO.

Another version of “storage“ that wouldn’t require any changes is a “prepper” room or safe room stocked with cases of food and water and a year’s worth of supplies. If not too far away from the kitchen you can use as a larder or extra pantry.

I wouldn’t take it out. I’d work around it. Even if you want an office, just set up around it. Papers and books and pens can all be stored in the wine storage. Think outside the box. Or bottle.

is downstairs with access to the backyard and family room. so minimally was considering getting some cheaper temporary cabinets and microwave, tea/coffee station and cooler fridhe for cold refreshments, for a small snacks kitchenette. but as the other poster said maybe keeping it essentially there might help in resale value as a lux feature - not that it mattered to us.
