Thanks, Garegigg! Love the idea on the drink tables. I actually haven’t planned to do any art here...letting the millwork stand on its own. I get a little overwhelmed thinking about putting art here. Would I do large pieces or smaller ones within the trim? Showing you the view from my kitchen so you can see how this space looks from another angle.

All the pillows should play well together. They don't need to match if you don't want that appearance. IMO these pillows currently on the sofa are not doing the room any favors. They are all a bit muddy in color.

Looks like the sofas are very supportive, so in this case the pillows are merely decorative. A combination of solid and patterns, (not cotton prints) would add some visual interest to the area. Not these colors but a jacquard design combined with a chenille small pattern and a velvet are great textures to use together.

Are you at all concerned that the coffee table is a very hard reach for anyone who sits on the arm of the sofa? That I would improve upon. It's just my preference but I don't have a problem with people putting their feet up and I want them to feel like they can enjoy themselves in a room so I would opt for a casual rectangular table.

@BeverlyFLAdeziner- Now that’s I need! Thanks! Yes, decorative pillows...but husband/kids like to put their heads on them to watch TV. So glad in your opinion....should the pillows be the same on each sofa?

Also-great call on the coffee table. Source for the first one? The one I have is repurposed and I was going to live with it for a bit!

Pillows don't need to be the same on both sofas, but as stated above should all be complementary. Try to buy pillow covers (with down inserts) that can be removed for cleaning if/when needed, and don't worry about your family actually using them. That should be what they're for; if they're only there to look pretty, that's missing the point of creating a HOME.

I also agree that lighter, brighter pillow fabrics would give your space a happy boost.

Please excuse my off topic question, gguignon. What are the dimensions of your island? We are considering enlarging the counter space at our island to include seating and the size of your island looks to be close to what we might end up with. Currently, our island is 60" wide and 34" deep.

IMO if you have to move the pillows to sit on the sofa then there are too many pillows so at best one pillow in each corner and no they do not have to match
