I loaned a book to someone and it came back smelling of patchouli (yuck), so I had to seal it in a plastic bag to even have it in my house. I'll give this a try. Thanks!

If you have a cat that uses that litter box, anything you bury in the cat litter material will most certainly come out with a different odor than it went in with. Yeah, just kidding.

You'd bury the item to have its odiferousness redirected in the unused stuff in the box that it came in, not the stuff in the pan that's almost ready to go out the door, Elmer.

Funny, Jasdip, they do make a litter called Yesterdays News out of tightly rolled old newspaper. But, of course if you've had cats you already know this.

Hoping Joann returns with info on what she used. I'm wondering if it might have been clay litter. In the meantime, I'm going to bury a few smelly basement things in my bag of pine pellets and see if it helps them.

Breenthumb, Yesterday's News is always recommended when people have their cats declawed, for the first while. Clay can get in their stitches etc. It's absorbent but it smells, it's not something that I'd use as a regular litter by any means.j

There's one made of wheat pellets that's supposed to be good, but it's expensive.

I use regular clumping, from Costco (the best price anywhere!) and it's allowed in our green bins.

the brand is Frisco, (I think) scoopable, Lavender fields from Chewy.com I got it from the neighbor. About $13 for 40 LBS and lasts her over a month. Litter (check it out)

Use tge cheap clay kitty liter. Works like a charm. When done, use it to soak up oil stains.

For cars that reek of smoke or spilled gas can, use a fresh can of coffee grounds, spread out on a cookie sheet. Put in car out in hot sun with windows closed tight for a couple of days. The oils in the grounds vaporize and fuse with tge nicotine or petrochemical scent. Car dealerships use this.

No, you can not smell the lavender at all. No smells on the items. maybe just a hint if you don't have it in there long enough Like the book I put in there. This is the only thing I have found that got rid of the smoke odor. I will try the coffee grounds also, thanks.

Yes, before I bought to much litter I would try some cheap stuff first. I was looking in the litter aisle today and if you have a cat or 2 the chewy litter is much cheaper then any in the store and works well. 10 Lbs was like $9. chewy has 40 Lbs for $13 something.
