Thank you, Nidnay. Is the slow drain and gunk something that would put you off to installing a 2nd CGS sink? How long have you had your sink?

I think I would call Dan before purchasing another sink from them and discuss the flange/drainage issue.

Personally, I would prefer the seam for the drain to be located where it’s actually visible and not hidden further down into the drain. It still has to be cleaned and if it’s visible will get cleaned more often.....out of sight, out of mind. A few manufacturers boast about this “feature” but the supposed advantages make zero sense to me.

Just to clarify, it’s not the drain that is slow, but the rubber flange for the disposal that seems to restrict flow a little (red circle).

We‘ve had the sink one year.

nidnay, when our prep sink disposal was installed, (its not a CGS sink) our plumber took scissors and cut the angles that were already cut in the rubber flange back a bit further. Ours was also impeding water flow and his two second fix definitely helped.

Ted....yes....I clean it all the time.....but I’ve had to do that with any sink/disposal I’ve ever had. They all get pretty dirty.

I've never looked! out of sight out of mind. afraid to look now.

@tedb1973 what sink did you end up getting and are you happy with it? If you don't mind me asking, what is the difference between air switch and batch feed garbage disposals. I never heard of that...

@User looking for an update on the CGS...any other issues beside the drain seam? BTW, how do you clean a drain seam if it is further down? Have you been able to resolve the drainage issue?

I did put in a CGS. I like it very much. It scratches easily but since the drain grid is down all the time you don't see it. Rubber gasket in the drain pops in and out easily and should be cleaned frequently. I did what another poster suggested and cut out some parts of the gasket to get a better flow. Overall, I would do it again.

Sorry, air switch garbage disposal is operated by flipping what looks like a light switch or pressing a button, also called continuous feed. A batch switch is when you push the food down the drain into the disposal then you put a cover over the hole and twist it to activate the disposal. Batch feeds are safer especially if you have children but CGS cannot accommodate that cover. And my town does allow continuous feed garbage disposals.

Thank you to everyone for posting this useful information. I am looking to install a 5' workstation sink in my kitchen island (with double faucets). I cannot use an 'air switch' disposal (light switch) and need the batch feed. This is a total bummer that CGS drain can't accommodate. i'm wondering which sink you went with @tedb1973? Kitchen Designer recommending The Galley but with mediocre reviews and close to $7k price tag, I'm wondering what else is out there. Thanks!!

I found out I was able to use an air switch so when with CGS. In the process of researching sinks I came across a lot of small custom sink makers. You should maybe check out elkay.com and look for "Custom Stainless Solutions"

Very disappointed "create good sinks" customer. Purchased a $1,575 sink on 12/2/24 for our vacation home. Just had the opportunity to use it for the first time after new years day breakfast. These photos are of my "good sink" after cleaning up breakfast. My review isn't on their website. Wondering why their website only has 5* reviews for the sink I purchased. Please note there are actually more scratches. It's hard to capture each one with the camera.
Tip: don't ignore the scratch warning reviews like I did.

BUYER BEWARE!

Sue, stainless steel, particularly polished SS, will always scratch. It's okay.

Sue: CGS only mistake was a failure to set customer expectations; your sink is fine. Your scratches are easily removed and the sink refinished, even by a DIYer.
