Can anyone confirm what these roots are? Digging in an area that has not been disturbed for at least 10 years, to transplant a hosta. I accidentally cut through these. I THINK they are Virginia Bluebell roots, which I have growing in several places in this bed. I have actually never seen the roots. I had one plant brought from my parents yard 20 years ago; which VEEEERY slowly seeded around. The VB went dormant some months ago, as it normally does.

I can’t think of what else they can be. Sorry if the pic is fuzzy, it was getting dark.

I am hoping I can still replant these. But I don’t know if VB can grow from a piece of root or not. Thanks for your help.
