I know I have seen this here before, but I can't seem to find it using the search - so my apologies if this has been asked and answered.

What are the recommended guidelines/best practices for recessed lighting in the kitchen above countertops? As in, where should they be in relation to the countertop and user - how far out from the wall?

One section will have upper cabinets (which will have under cabinet lighting), and another area will not. We also will have a peninsula, but recessed only, no pendants. Considering some wall sconces to add depth/decor accent, but not 100% sure yet.
