That is making lemonade! Sounds like you will have lots of space now for seedlings and plants, just the hard way to get it. I have been busy weeding the iris bed. We have had so much rain this year, I have iris rot more than I have ever seen. I have very rarly lost iris to rot, of course, these are all just 2 or 3 out of a clump so no real loss. Of course the weeds are not helping the situation. The iris needed thinning, even after getting rid of a bunch last month. I may have a manageable iris bed next year.

Glad your downsizing going well. We got a much needed, but only half an inch of rain, next day I could finally dig, and I composted one lol And a few sdlgs.

Nancy - Too bad about the iris rot. The very first irises I ever bought years ago rotted the fall I planted them. I find weeding around irises very challenging. You know, I never got to see you iris gardesn in the back because of my fall. I bet they're spectacular in the Spring.

Debra, glad to hear there was minimal damage to your home, the result, a seedling bed. At least no more worries about the tree. Glad the sale is going well!

Nancy: That's the same here. My one lone non species Iris rotted too from all the rain, and it was in a raised bed............. Debra: I've always been conflicted between growing trees or growing sun ornamentals. Our weather over the years however has taken care of most of the shade problem from trees I planted when a newbie (it's a rather costly process to have the trees removed though). I look forward to many new seedlings from you.........Maryl

I am glad your down-sizing is going well. as usual, mine resulted in an increase....but I started with a lot less than you, so that is something. Ouch! Another tree disaster. I am glad it didn't directly hit the house, and also thatYou will get more beds out of it...silver lining. Send me the link....you never know, I might need something on it.

I'm glad the damage to your home was minimal. Being without power, though, is always a pain. More space for seedlings is a bonus though.

We are trying to downsize too. We won't sell any this fall since we imported rust this year, but next spring we will try to clean out at least a hundred. We already sent about 30 (ones that don't like our climate to a friend in the south who already has rust. We have too many to take care of.

Kay - My downsizing allows me to add some new hybridizing parents. I'm not happy unless I have a few new ones each year to play with.

Hoosier Nancy - I wish I had a friend who could take 30 of mine. The most of I gotten anyone to take is eight.

Wow Debra, you have had issues with that tree but now you'll have a nice new bed to plant in. I had forgotten about the classifieds on the NGA site and may try selling off some of the extras I have here once things settle down here and I can focus again on the garden.
