Currently, when you enter our house, the door hits a half wall to the right which separates the entry from the living room. The living room is situated to the right.There is a staircase right in front of the door to the left. Also to the left of the door is our study. Several steps down from the hallway (connected to living room wall) is a deep closet.We want to make the entryway more bright and less claustrophobic. Thinking about taking down the half wall and maybe the closet as well. My concern though is that then you just walk into the living room and there is still no real foyer area.
