ceiling fan lights that look good aren't always the best at casting light IMO. I would do can lights, and table lamps, you want options. Or a center chandelier could be really pretty in a bedroom. Either way layer the light so you do not have to always rely on the overhead lighting.

Fan with no light, or chandelier centered in room.

Table lamps on nightstands.

Two small recessed lights (separately switched) over head of bed for reading. Or, two reading sconce lights.

Recessed lights to highlight artwork/drapes.

If needed, recessed lights in corners of room.

All on dimmers.

Be strategic and judicious with your recessed lights.

I am a little unclear on what you are proposing so I will just say uplighting to highlight the ceiling is a pretty feature ..a fan is nice it you need the air circulation...and bed side lamps are most efficient ...as they can move if/when the bed does..
