Hi all, I am looking to redo my front of my house. Looking to expand my driveway, so seeking assistance on how can I make this better.

Im guessing you want to expand to the left.

I would power wash the whole driveway and sidewalk.

Paint the garage door a darker color to blend with the house

Paint the front door a pop of color to stand out.

add some color pops to an expanded flower bed.

    Trim the hedges back

Hello, I'm not a pro landscaper, but may I suggest planting native plants that are local to your area? They are easier to maintain and they support natural wildlife in your area - so critical right now when we're facing an insect apocalypse - with bees and butterflies dying. This blog has a lot of resources and tips. For example the National Wildlife Federation provides trainings and certifications to help people plant gardens and landscape in ways that help native birds, animals, and insects. Plus, native plants are easier to grow and will be more resilient in your local climate. Good luck! More info here: https://www.uniguide.com/how-to-make-your-home-a-natural-habitat-for-wildlife/

I am looking to expand the driveway so looking to do Concrete on left side toward the fence and that D Grass Patch. This will allow me to park two cars. Currently we have hard time looking for parking.

I can’t figure out how to make it, so that D doesn’t show up as a patch/new concrete.

Do i put paver around both side of the pathway to the stoop?

Before doing anything, be sure to check what code allows, as many places have some tight regulations when it comes to front yard parking.

Even if you can go to the fence, it's not a good idea and that doesn't look like enough space for 2 cars, side by side. Seems like you would need to widen right side of drive, too. But as that happens, the front walk will begin to look ... purposeless and odd. Consider removing that walk in the process unless it goes directly to a mailbox. If there is no planting space at the left side of drive, it will instantly look like a lower grade rental unit, where things are done with disregard of appearances.

@Yardvaark, i am looking to expand on the right side as well covering the ”D” that separates walkway to front door/stoop area.

As far code; we are allowed.

can anyone suggest? possibly a mock? thank you.

Yardvark is the best for these.

My decorating skills are pretty iffy and I tend more toward practical solutions than pretty ones. But I think Yardvaark is on the right track here. I'd probably bust out the sidewalk and extend the driveway from the left side of the apron in front of the garage over to the right side of the porch. That would mean less edging when you mow, too. :)

I really don't see any other practical way to do what you want.

is there a software that I can use to create mock design?

none of your pictures show enough of the full front. try taking a picture that is wide, and stand back to get all of the front

And jimmy, if you want to improve the street appeal of the whole front yard (which looks like it will soon be eaten by large shrubs) start another thread for that. (Stand at curb, in line with center of house and take slightly overlapping photos, panning 180* so we can see neighboring background.)

will do that when the car isn't parked there. thank you so much

alright guys, concrete work is done. I'll take cleaner pics today and post in the landscaping section for ideas. thank you @Yardvaark

well that's nice and neat! you should power wash your garage door. curious why the bit of concrete around the foundation?

@RL Relocation - I power washed garage door. it has paint and rust particles from former owner who used to weld bed frames and prime metal. I will try to wet sand over the weekend to see if I can get it out.

secondly - bit of concrete is a 3ft splash to reduce moisture going in. in NY Nassau/Suffolk Area (Long Island) none of the houses are water proof. So contractor advised to install concrete to reduce moisture.

Without a wider curb cut and apron, how are you going to use that new section of driveway. Seems like it will be very awkward getting in and out.

@Yardvaark, I need to get permit to get that done. That is in process. I will get that made after the fact.

in the meanwhile, @YardVaark and others. can you guys please suggest landscaping ideas.

    I posted here

Well in that case you can paint the garage door, you probably should anyway, maybe a darker color to have it blend into the house more.
