any ideas?

One tip for picture taking ... you need to stand at one location for all three pics in a single scene. The second picture -- directly across from the door -- is the correct place and distance for the main foundation planting scene. The farther-away picture (as in the last one) is fine for a second scene but, again, you'd stand at the one location for all three distant shots.

That aside, I went back to the earlier picture you took and finished working on plants in front of the house. The plants are not specific plants (I don't remember where you live) but are forms, so my message is about arrangement and organization. You could look around where you live and see what plants are able to make these forms. (However, 'Stella d'Oro' daylilies could make the flowering perennial hedge along the picket fence.)

Yardvaark's rendering is probably the best you can do with all that concrete.

Yep, i would paint the front door garage door and trim to clean it up,I would also pain the white portion above the garage door as well. Sage, blues and gray could work for you.

Could you tell us which way the house is facing, the shadows that may be cast will make a difference for the plantings. I do love daylilies, but Stella d’Oro is my least favorite because of the color...I find it neither yellow or orange.

thank you all, my house faces south. I get sunlight all day long.
