Unless you can control the moths that produce the larvae that becomes webworms, there is not a lot you can do. If you can reach, removing and destroying the web nests is the recommended control. And a dormant oil spray in late winter can smother any overwintering eggs. I find them to be rather cyclical - some years heavy and other years hardly any. They are subject to a lot of predatory organisms as well, birds being the top of the list. And they really do no significant damage to an established, mature tree.

i would expect that the harvest is over.. presuming a fruit tree ... so nothing need be done ...

and if its just a plain old tree ... same answer ...

so what if they eat up some few leaves.. just a month or 6 weeks before they fall off ...

i am rarely concerned by ugly leaves.. by this time of year ...

i have some huge serotina ... and there is absolutely nothing i could do about what i see 40 feet up ... so i dont ...

perhaps a MI winter.. is why it doesnt make a difference ... i see the ruined webbing in spring ... but i cant say i ever observed populations increasing.. year to year... other than gal reference to cyclical biblical plagues.. which come and go.. over the years .. and decades ...
